Position Details & Responsibilities

A growing construction organization is seeking an Equipment Manager to oversee the maintenance, utilization, scheduling, and overall performance of its equipment fleet. This role is based in Arizona.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in heavy equipment, fleet operations, or equipment management and will be highly organized, technically knowledgeable, and comfortable working with multiple departments to maximize equipment uptime and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the company's fleet of construction equipment, vehicles, and related assets
  • Coordinate equipment scheduling, deployment, and utilization to support project needs and operational priorities
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs, inspections, repairs, and service schedules to maximize equipment uptime
  • Work closely with project managers, field supervisors, and mechanics to ensure equipment availability and operational readiness
  • Manage relationships with equipment vendors, rental providers, manufacturers, and service partners
  • Monitor equipment performance, maintenance costs, fuel usage, and overall fleet expenses
  • Supervise equipment support personnel and provide leadership, training, and accountability as needed
  • Maintain accurate equipment records, including service history, inspections, certifications, warranties, usage hours, and lifecycle documentation
  • Utilize fleet management software to track equipment status, locations, maintenance schedules, and operational data
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and manufacturer recommendations
  • Identify opportunities to improve fleet efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize equipment utilization
  • Assist with equipment purchasing, replacement planning, and asset lifecycle management

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in equipment management, fleet operations, construction equipment, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment, hydraulics, diesel-powered equipment, and mechanical systems
  • Experience managing preventative maintenance programs, equipment repairs, and fleet utilization
  • Hands-on experience with fleet management software and equipment tracking systems
  • Strong understanding of equipment documentation, reporting, and record-keeping best practices
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and assets simultaneously
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with field personnel, vendors, and leadership teams
  • Experience managing budgets, maintenance expenses, and equipment-related costs preferred
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Valid driver's license required
  • CDL preferred but not required
