A leading construction equipment dealership is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead its service operations in Central New Mexico. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the service department while driving technician performance, customer satisfaction, and department profitability.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge and service management experience who enjoys developing technicians, strengthening customer relationships, and improving operational performance. This individual will play a key role in ensuring efficient shop operations while supporting the continued growth of the dealership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operations of the service department, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable performance
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop service technicians while fostering a positive, high-performing team culture
  • Manage technician scheduling, workflow, and work assignments to maximize productivity and customer satisfaction
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships by providing accurate repair estimates, resolving service concerns, and ensuring timely communication
  • Review and approve work orders, invoices, and repair documentation for accuracy and timely customer billing
  • Oversee warranty administration while working closely with manufacturers to resolve warranty-related issues
  • Monitor department financial performance, including labor efficiency, expenses, gross profit, and overall profitability
  • Coordinate with parts, sales, and other departments to ensure seamless customer support and operational efficiency
  • Oversee service vehicle and shop equipment maintenance while maintaining a safe and organized work environment
  • Identify opportunities to improve service processes, increase customer satisfaction, and grow service revenue

Qualifications

 

  • Previous experience as a Service Manager, Shop Foreman, Service Supervisor, or similar leadership role within the construction equipment, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, or related industries
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical understanding of equipment service and repair operations
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop service technicians while managing daily department operations
  • Experience managing service department financial performance, including labor efficiency, budgets, and profitability
  • Excellent customer service, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and service management software
  • Class B CDL or the ability to obtain one is preferred
  • Associate's degree or equivalent industry experience preferred
