A growing heavy equipment dealership is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead its service operations in the Southern Indiana area. This is an onsite leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the service department while also supporting overall branch performance. This position will be instrumental in overall branch success and will work closely with regional leadership. The Service Manager plays a key role in driving operational success, supporting the sales team, developing technicians, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge, outstanding customer service skills, and the ability to build and mentor a high-performing service team. Responsibilities

  • Lead all daily shop and field service operations while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, efficiency, and profitability
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop service technicians while building a strong, engaged service team
  • Partner closely with the sales team to support customers, identify service opportunities, and strengthen long-term customer relationships
  • Oversee work scheduling, technician assignments, workflow, and work order quality to maximize productivity and minimize equipment downtime
  • Monitor department performance, budgets, labor efficiency, and profitability while implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure warranty claims, service documentation, and customer billing are completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain department equipment, service vehicles, tooling, and facilities while promoting a safe and organized work environment
  • Support overall branch operations by collaborating with leadership to improve customer service, employee morale, and operational performance

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within a heavy equipment, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, or related service environment
  • Previous experience as a Service Manager, Shop Foreman, Service Supervisor, or similar leadership role preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical understanding of heavy equipment service and repair
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop technicians while building a positive team culture
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong understanding of service department operations, financial performance, and labor management
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and service management software
  • Technical school education or equivalent hands-on industry experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
