A well-established heavy equipment dealership is seeking an experienced Parts Manager to lead its parts and warehouse operations in Central New York. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the parts department, including inventory management, customer service, employee development, and overall department profitability.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong background in heavy equipment parts operations who enjoys developing teams, optimizing inventory, and delivering exceptional service to both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operations of the parts department, ensuring efficient, accurate, and profitable performance
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop parts counter personnel, warehouse staff, and administrative team members
  • Manage parts inventory levels to maximize product availability while minimizing excess inventory and carrying costs
  • Monitor department sales, gross margins, and key performance metrics to achieve financial objectives
  • Review and approve special pricing, customer credits, and daily stock orders
  • Develop and implement parts sales and marketing initiatives to increase customer engagement and department revenue
  • Ensure accurate shipping, receiving, inventory control, and warehouse operations while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe facility
  • Oversee annual physical inventory and maintain accurate inventory records and reporting
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive pricing, and market conditions to support strategic decision-making
  • Collaborate with the service and sales departments to provide exceptional customer support and maximize overall branch performance

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in parts management, inventory management, or aftermarket operations within the heavy equipment, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, trucking, or related industries
  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment parts, inventory control, and warehouse operations
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Experience managing department budgets, inventory investments, margins, and operational performance
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with inventory management systems, dealership software, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment
