Position Details & Responsibilities
A growing equipment distribution organization is seeking a Director of Sales based in the Central Indiana area to help drive national dealer development, support equipment sales growth, and lead a small sales team within a rapidly expanding business.
This is a high-impact leadership opportunity with a company focused on building and scaling multiple exclusive equipment distribution lines across North America. The role combines dealer development, direct sales, and sales leadership responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, growing markets, and helping shape the future of an organization.
The position will support equipment lines focused on contractor, compact equipment, attachment, and landscaping markets.
Responsibilities
- Identify, recruit, and onboard new equipment dealers across targeted markets and territories
- Develop dealer growth strategies and build long-term distribution partnerships
- Prospect and engage equipment dealers focused on compact equipment, excavation, landscaping, utility, and contractor markets
- Represent the organization at trade shows, dealer meetings, and industry events to build pipeline and brand awareness
- Evaluate dealer opportunities based on market potential, service capabilities, and long-term fit
- Co-lead and support two sales representatives focused on contractor and equipment sales
- Help develop team culture, accountability, and overall sales performance
- Partner with marketing and leadership teams on lead generation and market growth initiatives
- Support CRM management, sales pipeline visibility, forecasting, and reporting processes
- Collaborate with internal teams on product strategy, market intelligence, and profitability initiatives

Qualifications
- Experience in heavy equipment, compact equipment, contractor equipment, attachments, or dealership sales environments
- Prior sales leadership, dealer development, or territory management experience preferred
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Experience leading or mentoring sales teams preferred
- Proven ability to grow dealer networks and drive business development initiatives
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently and strategically
- Comfortable traveling approximately 50% for dealer visits, customer meetings, and industry events
- Experience with CRM systems and sales process management
- Strong understanding of contractor-focused equipment markets preferred
- Mechanical aptitude or familiarity with equipment applications preferred
