A growing equipment organization is seeking a National Sales Manager based in the Chicago, Illinois area to drive expansion through dealer development and direct equipment sales. This role is a key part of the company’s growth strategy, focused on building a strong dealer network while supporting equipment sales across a defined territory.

This is a highly entrepreneurial, relationship-driven role ideal for someone who enjoys building partnerships from the ground up and helping others succeed in a competitive equipment market.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, recruit, and onboard new equipment dealers across targeted markets
  • Build and execute strategies to develop a strong national dealer network
  • Prospect and engage potential dealer partners, including independent dealers and service providers
  • Evaluate dealer opportunities based on market coverage, capabilities, and long-term potential
  • Guide new dealers through onboarding, training, and initial business setup
  • Support dealer success through coaching, performance tracking, and ongoing relationship management
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure dealers have the tools, support, and resources to succeed
  • Drive equipment sales directly within an assigned territory using a consultative sales approach
  • Manage the full sales cycle, including needs analysis, presentations, proposals, and post-sale support
  • Attend trade shows, customer events, and industry functions to build pipeline and brand presence
  • Maintain CRM activity, track pipeline progress, and report on performance metrics

Qualifications

  • Experience in heavy equipment sales, dealer development, or channel sales
  • Willingness to travel up to 80% regularly to support dealers and customers
  • Strong understanding of dealership operations, including sales and service functions
  • Proven ability to build relationships and develop new business opportunities
  • Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Comfortable managing a large territory and balancing multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and data-driven sales processes
  • Mechanical aptitude or comfort working with equipment preferred
