Position Details & Responsibilities

A global construction equipment manufacturer is seeking a Hydraulic Systems Engineer to join its growing engineering team in the Greater Houston, Texas Area. This role is responsible for designing, integrating, and optimizing hydraulic systems used on heavy construction equipment while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver innovative, reliable, and high-performing machines.

The ideal candidate will have experience designing hydraulic systems for mobile equipment and possess a strong understanding of fluid power principles, structural integration, and machine performance. Fluency in both Mandarin and English is required for collaboration with international engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop hydraulic systems for heavy construction equipment, including pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, and related components
  • Integrate hydraulic systems with machine structures, powertrain components, and electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability
  • Optimize hydraulic system efficiency, safety, and overall machine performance while meeting cost and manufacturing objectives
  • Create and review hydraulic schematics, 3D models, and engineering drawings
  • Participate in prototype builds, field testing, and validation activities to identify and resolve performance issues
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot hydraulic system failures
  • Evaluate component selection and system layouts based on machine performance requirements
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across mechanical, structural, electrical, and manufacturing disciplines
  • Review structural analysis and simulation data to ensure components withstand operational loads and pressures
  • Prepare engineering documentation including bills of materials (BOMs), validation reports, and technical specifications
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable ISO, ANSI, SAE, and other industry standards
  • Travel up to 40% to support testing, product development, and engineering initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline; Master's degree is a plus
  • 3-10+ years of experience designing hydraulic systems for construction equipment, agricultural equipment, mining equipment, or other mobile machinery
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic system design, fluid power principles, and component selection
  • Experience integrating hydraulic systems with mechanical structures and vehicle systems
  • Knowledge of hydraulic simulation and analysis software such as Automation Studio, MATLAB, or similar platforms
  • Experience with CAD software and 3D modeling tools
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Hands-on experience supporting prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple engineering projects
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Fluency in both Mandarin and English is required
  • Valid authorization to work in the United States (visa sponsorship is not available)
