A long-established equipment and truck solutions provider is seeking a Hydraulic Truck Master Mechanic to join its service team in the Los Angeles area. This role focuses on advanced diagnostics, repair, and customization of hydraulic systems on specialized truck-mounted equipment.

This is a hands-on position for a highly skilled technician who enjoys solving complex hydraulic and electrohydraulic challenges and being a go-to expert within a high-volume shop environment.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair complex hydraulic system failures on truck-mounted equipment
  • Troubleshoot and rebuild hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, and control systems
  • Perform advanced diagnostics including flow testing, pressure analysis, and system performance evaluations
  • Repair and service PTO-driven hydraulic systems and power units
  • Troubleshoot electrohydraulic systems including controls, sensors, and joysticks
  • Service and repair cranes, aerial lifts, booms, stabilizers, and other hydraulic equipment
  • Identify and resolve hydraulic leaks, contamination, and system inefficiencies
  • Install, commission, and modify hydraulic systems and components
  • Design and fabricate custom hydraulic circuits and system improvements
  • Lead complex troubleshooting efforts and provide guidance to other technicians as needed
  • Maintain detailed documentation of repairs, modifications, and system performance
  • Ensure all work meets safety standards and manufacturer specifications

Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of experience specializing in mobile hydraulic systems
  • Expert-level understanding of hydraulic theory, flow dynamics, and pressure systems
  • Strong experience with truck-mounted equipment such as cranes, lifts, and utility bodies
  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and technical diagrams
  • Advanced diagnostic skills using flow meters, pressure gauges, and related tools
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical and hydraulic interface systems
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with fabrication and modification capabilities
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred
  • Must provide own tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturer certifications (crane, lift, or hydraulic equipment brands)
  • Hydraulic certification (e.g., IFPS)
  • Welding, fabrication, and tube bending experience
  • Experience with proportional or servo hydraulic systems
  • Background in system design or engineering
  • Prior leadership or lead technician experience
