A long-standing equipment and truck solutions provider is seeking a Diesel Master Mechanic to join its service team in the Los Angeles area. This role is focused on advanced diagnostics and repair of heavy-duty diesel truck chassis systems, supporting a high-volume shop with a strong backlog of work.

This is a hands-on position for a highly skilled technician who enjoys solving complex mechanical and electrical issues and being a go-to expert within the shop.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair complex diesel engine systems including fuel systems, turbochargers, and emissions components
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting on transmissions, differentials, and full drivetrain systems
  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems, wiring, sensors, and multiplex networks
  • Complete brake system repairs including ABS, air systems, and related components
  • Repair and rebuild suspension, steering, and air ride systems
  • Lead diagnostics on challenging jobs and provide guidance to other technicians when needed
  • Perform DOT inspections and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
  • Work closely with service advisors to estimate repairs, timelines, and scope of work
  • Maintain accurate documentation and stay current with evolving diagnostic tools and technologies
  • Occasionally assist with mentoring less experienced technicians

Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of experience as a heavy-duty diesel technician
  • Strong expertise in diesel chassis systems including engines, drivetrain, electrical, and braking systems
  • Advanced diagnostic capabilities using OEM software
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation
  • ASE certifications (T-Series) preferred
  • CDL (Class A or B) and manufacturer certifications are a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex repair scenarios
  • Must provide own tools
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

Additional Details

  • Monday–Friday schedule with optional overtime
  • Shop-based role (no field service) supporting a team of approximately 20 technicians
  • Focus on diesel chassis work, with opportunities to assist in other areas based on experience
  • High volume of work with long-term stability and growth potential
