A global equipment manufacturer is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth across the Eastern United States. This role is responsible for expanding market share, developing dealer relationships, increasing contractor engagement, and growing sales of specialized road construction equipment throughout a multi-state territory.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the road construction, asphalt, paving, or heavy construction equipment industry and a proven ability to develop new business, build strategic partnerships, and support dealer success. Candidates should be based in North Carolina or Virginia and be comfortable traveling extensively throughout the East Coast.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to increase sales and market share throughout the Eastern United States
  • Expand and strengthen the company's dealer network while identifying opportunities for new dealer partnerships
  • Build strong relationships with paving contractors, road builders, municipalities, dealers, and other key industry stakeholders
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, prospecting, cold calling, referrals, and industry events
  • Conduct product presentations, equipment demonstrations, and customer meetings to promote specialized road construction equipment
  • Collaborate with Product Specialists to deliver technical training and support for dealers and end users
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity to identify growth opportunities and guide business strategy
  • Gather customer feedback and communicate market insights to leadership and product development teams
  • Develop and present business proposals, sales forecasts, and strategic growth plans
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular updates on sales activity, pipeline development, and territory performance
  • Represent the company at trade shows, dealer meetings, and industry events throughout the assigned territory
  • Travel extensively throughout the East Coast to support customers, dealers, and business development initiatives

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of business development, territory sales, or account management experience within the heavy construction equipment industry
  • Previous experience in the paving, asphalt, road construction, milling, or pavement maintenance industry is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of road construction equipment, contractor operations, and dealer distribution networks
  • Experience developing new business opportunities and growing sales through dealer and contractor relationships
  • Proven ability to create and execute strategic sales plans that deliver measurable business growth
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to work independently
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with experience utilizing CRM platforms and Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to travel approximately 60% throughout the Eastern United States
  • Must reside in North Carolina or Virginia and be located near a major airport
