Position Details & Responsibilities

A leading global manufacturer of heavy equipment components is seeking an Undercarriage Design Engineer to focus on the design and development of track systems for construction, mining, and forestry machinery. This is a remote role and can be based anywhere in the United States.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize undercarriage track systems to improve performance, durability, and reliability.
  • Create detailed CAD models and design specifications.
  • Perform structural analysis and simulations (FEA) to validate designs.
  • Support prototype testing, including wear, load, and fatigue assessments.
  • Recommend materials and processes suited for demanding applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and manufacturing to ensure design feasibility.
  • Lead design projects from concept to production, including documentation and reporting.
  • Investigate product failures, conduct root cause analysis, and implement design improvements.
  • Stay current on industry advancements and integrate new technologies into designs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in undercarriage, track systems, or similar mechanical design.
  • Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA) and FEA tools (ANSYS, ABAQUS).
  • Strong knowledge of material properties and manufacturing processes (casting, heat treatment, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
