Position Details & Responsibilities

A growing multi-location heavy equipment and commercial truck dealership is seeking an experienced Director of Aftermarket Operations to lead its service, parts, collision, and customer uptime operations. This senior leadership position will oversee multiple locations across the Greater Philadelphia and Southeast Pennsylvania region, including supporting the launch and development of an additional dealership location.

The Director will have responsibility for aftermarket P&L, service operations, WIP management, parts performance, process standardization, and department leadership. The ideal candidate will bring a strong dealership background with experience leading multiple aftermarket or fixed operations departments and driving measurable improvements in profitability, productivity, and customer uptime.

Responsibilities

  • Lead aftermarket operations across multiple dealership locations, including truck service, equipment service, collision, parts, and customer uptime/support functions.
  • Own departmental P&L performance, including labor gross, parts gross, absorption, operating expenses, and overall profitability.
  • Establish budgets, labor rates, margin targets, and KPIs while holding department leaders accountable for results.
  • Analyze financial and operational performance across locations and implement strategies to improve profitability and efficiency.
  • Standardize service processes and the complete work order lifecycle to improve WIP management, turnaround times, invoicing, and customer communication.
  • Monitor WIP aging and work closely with service leadership to address bottlenecks, documentation issues, warranty requirements, and delayed work orders.
  • Oversee parts inventory strategy, fill rates, turns, pricing, margins, stocking programs, and OEM parts relationships.
  • Align parts and service operations to minimize downtime and improve technician productivity and customer uptime.
  • Lead and develop Service, Parts, Collision, and other aftermarket department managers across multiple locations.
  • Establish consistent processes, performance expectations, reporting, and customer service standards throughout the organization.
  • Support technician staffing, training, development, and workforce planning based on operational needs.
  • Lead the aftermarket portion of a new dealership location opening, including staffing, service and parts workflows, inventory planning, systems, and operational readiness.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across service and parts operations.
  • Travel regularly between dealership locations to work directly with department leadership and evaluate performance.

Qualifications

 

  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in dealership aftermarket, fixed operations, service, parts, or product support.
  • Heavy equipment, construction equipment, commercial truck, or related heavy-duty dealership experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing departmental P&L, budgets, labor gross, parts gross, and absorption.
  • Strong understanding of dealership service operations, work orders, WIP management, and technician productivity.
  • Experience overseeing parts inventory, OEM programs, pricing, margins, and inventory performance.
  • Previous multi-location leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience opening, integrating, or scaling dealership locations is a plus.
  • Experience leading and developing department managers and building accountability across teams.
  • Familiarity with dealership management systems (DMS) and KPI reporting.
  • Strong financial, analytical, organizational, and process-improvement skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout the Southeastern Pennsylvania Region
