Position Details & Responsibilities

A growing material handling equipment dealership is seeking an experienced Parts Manager to lead its parts department in Western New York. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily parts operations, optimizing inventory management, supporting technicians and customers, and driving parts sales while ensuring exceptional customer service.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the forklift, material handling, heavy equipment, automotive, or dealership industry and possess strong leadership, inventory management, and customer service skills. This position plays a vital role in supporting service operations and maximizing parts department performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operations of the Parts Department while supervising and developing parts team members
  • Foster collaboration with service, sales, and branch leadership to support efficient operations and outstanding customer service
  • Identify opportunities to improve department processes, inventory management, and operational efficiency
  • Drive parts sales growth while improving customer responsiveness and order turnaround times
  • Prepare accurate parts quotations, including pricing and product availability for customers and technicians
  • Source, order, and distribute parts for shop technicians, field service technicians, and customers
  • Provide technical guidance to technicians by identifying the correct parts required for equipment repairs
  • Maintain clear communication with customers regarding order status, availability, and delivery timelines
  • Manage inventory levels through purchasing, cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory control processes
  • Research and resolve inventory discrepancies while maintaining accurate inventory records
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely procurement of parts and manage open purchase orders
  • Monitor inventory turnover and purchasing trends to maintain appropriate stock levels while minimizing excess inventory

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in parts operations, inventory management, or aftermarket support
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience within the forklift, material handling, heavy equipment, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, automotive, or dealership industry is highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control, purchasing, and warehouse operations
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with inventory management systems, dealership software, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
