A growing heavy equipment organization in the Upstate New York area is seeking a Service Manager to lead daily service department operations, support technicians, and drive customer satisfaction and profitability.

This role is responsible for overseeing shop workflow, technician performance, quality control, and operational efficiency while maintaining a strong customer-focused culture. The ideal candidate will have experience managing heavy equipment service operations and leading teams in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily service department operations, including scheduling, workflow, and job prioritization
  • Lead, coach, and develop technicians, foremen, and service personnel
  • Monitor shop productivity, labor efficiency, and work-in-progress to ensure timely job completion
  • Coordinate closely with parts and service teams to support efficient repairs and customer communication
  • Maintain high standards for repair quality, safety, and overall service performance
  • Support technicians with troubleshooting and technical guidance as needed
  • Review work orders, repair documentation, and billing accuracy
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, fleet customers, and equipment owners
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and ensure a positive service experience
  • Drive department profitability through effective labor management, cost control, and operational improvements
  • Promote and enforce safety procedures and compliance standards throughout the shop

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in equipment service, repair, or dealership operations
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience within a service department environment
  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment or trucking equipment
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Familiarity with service department metrics, labor efficiency, and shop management processes
  • Understanding of OSHA safety standards and service department compliance requirements preferred
