A well-established equipment dealership in the transportation industry is seeking a Service Manager to lead operations at one of its largest and most active locations in Central Virginia. This role is responsible for overseeing daily service operations, managing a team of technicians, and ensuring high levels of efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone with experience in the truck and trailer industry who can balance team management, workflow coordination, and customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily service department operations, including scheduling, workflow, and repair quality
  • Lead, coach, and support a team of 8–10 technicians to ensure productivity and accountability
  • Monitor work orders, labor efficiency, and turnaround times to meet operational goals
  • Maintain strong communication with customers regarding service updates, timelines, and solutions
  • Ensure repairs and maintenance are completed accurately, safely, and on time
  • Collaborate with parts and other departments to ensure availability of necessary components
  • Identify opportunities to improve shop efficiency, processes, and overall performance
  • Uphold safety standards and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Support a customer-focused culture and maintain long-term client relationships

Qualifications

 

  • 3+ years of experience in a service leadership role within the truck, trailer, or heavy equipment industry
  • Strong knowledge of Class 6, 7, and 8 trucks and/or trailer systems
  • Proven ability to lead and develop technicians in a shop environment
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume service operation
  • Experience with service management systems and general computer proficiency
  • Hands-on background preferred
