Our client, a leading distributor of heavy construction and compact equipment, is seeking an experienced Service Manager to oversee daily operations of a busy service department in Maryland.
This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge, a customer-first mindset, and a proven ability to drive team performance and operational efficiency.
The Service Manager will be responsible for leading shop and field operations, ensuring timely and high-quality repairs, managing financial performance, and maintaining strong relationships with both customers and OEM partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all aspects of shop and field service operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Schedule, assign, and monitor work orders to optimize technician productivity and turnaround time.
- Manage warranty and policy claims with OEMs and ensure compliance with company and manufacturer standards.
- Hire, train, and mentor technicians and support staff while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary contact for major service customers - providing accurate estimates, updates, and resolutions.
- Monitor department financial performance, approve work orders, and ensure accurate documentation and billing.
- Enforce safety policies and maintain compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate closely with Parts, Sales, and Rental departments to ensure smooth interdepartmental communication and operations.

Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in service management or supervision within heavy equipment, construction, or trucking industries.
- Strong technical understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems.
- Proven leadership and customer service skills with a focus on process improvement.
- Proficiency in service management software, Microsoft Office, and OEM diagnostic tools.
- High school diploma required; technical or mechanical degree preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
