We are working with a client seeking an experienced Engineering Manager based in Southwest Virginia to lead a customer-focused engineering team that supports legacy product lines and develops highly customized equipment. This role requires strong leadership and project management experience. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can manage resources effectively while staying closely involved in engineering work.

** Candidates MUST have technical expertise in civil explosives or cargo tank production for hazardous materials transport **

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers
  • Oversee maintenance and modernization of legacy product lines, updating drawings and replacing obsolete components
  • Manage engineering projects from design through delivery, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Collaborate with sales, service, production, and supply chain teams to align customer needs with technical solutions
  • Drive innovation, process improvements, and cost efficiency within engineering operations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related field (advanced degree or PE license a plus)
  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years in management
  • Experience in civil explosives industry or production of hazardous materials cargo tanks required
  • Strong project management and resource allocation skills
  • Proficiency with CAD, ERP, and engineering documentation systems
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
