A well-established heavy equipment dealer with multiple locations across the Southeast is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead their branch service operations in central Virginia.

This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the service department, ensuring optimal efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, technical expertise, and a customer-first mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the service department, including shop and field service work.
  • Ensure work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the satisfaction of internal and external customers.
  • Monitor staffing levels and adjust as needed to meet market demands.
  • Evaluate team performance and provide regular coaching and written reviews.
  • Maintain proper tools, equipment, and resources to support technician efficiency and safety.
  • Track department metrics, budgets, customer feedback, and competitor activity to drive improvements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align service goals with overall branch objectives.
  • Prepare estimates, budgets, and job cost reports as needed.
  • Coordinate joint customer visits with sales and product support teams.
  • Support ongoing employee development and technical training efforts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational/technical school training preferred.
  • Previous experience in service management within the heavy equipment or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance and repair operations, parts coordination, and customer service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry-specific software.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage teams, schedules, and departmental goals.
