Position Details & Responsibilities

A highly successful multi-location equipment dealership group is seeking an accomplished Chief Operating Officer in California to help lead the organization through its next phase of growth. Representing a leading compact equipment brand, the company provides equipment sales, rental, parts, and service solutions across an established network of locations throughout California and the surrounding region.

Working closely with ownership, the COO will take increasing responsibility for the day-to-day leadership, operational performance, financial results, and strategic direction of the organization. This is a hands-on executive leadership role requiring someone who understands how successful equipment dealerships operate and can bring consistency, accountability, and collaboration across multiple locations and departments.

This opportunity could be an excellent next step for an experienced VP, Director, Regional Manager, General Manager, or senior dealership executive who has successfully led significant portions of a dealership organization and is ready to take broader responsibility at the executive level.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations across a multi-location equipment dealership network
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction across Sales, Rental, Parts, Service, and branch operations
  • Partner closely with ownership to develop and execute short- and long-term business strategies
  • Drive profitable growth while improving operational consistency, efficiency, and accountability across locations
  • Establish and monitor KPIs, budgets, financial targets, and operational performance metrics
  • Analyze P&L performance and identify opportunities to improve revenue, margins, productivity, and expense management
  • Lead, coach, and develop branch and department leaders while building a strong leadership pipeline
  • Create greater alignment and communication between locations and functional departments
  • Evaluate existing processes and implement scalable systems and best practices that support continued growth
  • Maintain strong relationships with key customers, OEM partners, and other industry stakeholders
  • Support strategic initiatives involving market expansion, organizational development, talent, and future growth opportunities
  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the organization, regularly engaging with employees, customers, and branch leadership
  • Preserve the strengths of a successful family-owned organization while helping the company continue to evolve and scale
