Position Details & Responsibilities

Our client, a large multi-location heavy equipment dealership group, is seeking an experienced Vice President of Service to lead service operations across branch locations in the Southeastern U.S. This executive role is responsible for driving service excellence, standardizing processes, developing high-performing teams, and ensuring strong operational and financial performance across all service departments.

The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in multi-branch service leadership, strong operational discipline, and a proven background in the construction or heavy equipment industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for all service operations across 10+ dealerships.
  • Develop and implement standardized service processes, policies, and performance expectations across all branches.
  • Drive improvements in productivity, quality, customer service, and profitability.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop regional and branch service managers to build a high-performing and accountable team.
  • Oversee service budgets, staffing plans, KPIs, warranty programs, and departmental financial performance.
  • Strengthen customer satisfaction by improving service turnaround times, communication, and overall experience.
  • Partner closely with Parts, Sales, Rental, and Executive Leadership to ensure alignment across all business units.
  • Lead initiatives focused on technician development, recruitment, retention, and training.
  • Evaluate and optimize shop workflows, field service capabilities, tooling, technology, and diagnostic resources.
  • Drive continuous improvement through data-driven decision making, efficiency initiatives, and operational benchmarking.
  • Represent the service division in strategic planning, annual budget development, and long-term organizational initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience overseeing service operations for 10+ dealership locations or similar large-scale, multi-site environments.
  • Background in construction equipment, heavy equipment, machinery, or industrial service strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of shop operations, field service, diagnostics, warranty management, and technician development.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams, develop leaders, and implement consistent operational standards.
  • Excellent financial acumen, including experience managing P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and KPIs.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build trust, influence key stakeholders, and drive cross-department alignment.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Southeast to support branch operations.
