Position Details & Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will need to travel to Municipalities and Businesses within an assigned area to determine future fleet needs by building business, maintaining relationships, and prospecting for new customers within their area of responsibility. A successful candidate would be a business-minded professional who strives for organizational success, seeks career growth, and is motivated by the ability to set his/her own income potential.  This role reports to a Regional Sales Manager or VP/Director of Sales. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Know and follow a defined sales process: 5-4-3-2-1 Sales Methodology
  • Work directly with customers to determine their current fleet and future needs
  • Create and maintain a customer data base in CRM
  • Develop a five-year forecast and customer equipment budgets using CRM 
  • Participate in local and national industry trade shows
  • Communicate market needs and trends to senior management
  • Assist internal Parts/Service Departments in providing customer service to the existing customer base
  • Ability to monitor, evaluate, and counter activities of the competition
  • Employ a “consultative selling” approach to identify and manage customer needs and expectations gaining a “trusted advisor” relationship
  • Learn and become proficient with the manufacturer’s sales training and build configuration program(s)
  • Consistently manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
  • 60% travel with possible 3-5 overnights per month within assigned Iowa territory

Qualifications

  Desired Qualifications

  • Prior Heavy Equipment sales experience or at least five years of industry related sales experience
  • Must be highly motivated, results-oriented and self-starter
  • Possess excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Qualified candidates must live within or near the assigned territory
  • Experience with heavy equipment or the ability to learn operation/familiarity with represented equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Capable of demonstrating exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • 4-year degree required or equivalent
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to obtain a Class B CDL driver license.
