Job Purpose:
This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of a heavy equipment dealership's service and parts departments. Direct, lead and support the overall activities working closely with branch manager, shop and parts personnel by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

Duties:
• Directly supervises shop and field technicians, and counter sales personnel.

• Schedule all service work and assign to the technicians.

• Advise customers of repairs and estimated cost of repairs.

• Control expenses of the service and parts departments while maintaining productive services for our customers.

• Keep WIP (work in progress) to a level directed by the Branch Manager.

• Ascertain customers needs/determine parts/equipment solutions.

• Conduct sales of parts, equipment, and supplies over the phone and over the counter.

• Ensure all parts manuals, pricing information and sales information is current and accessible to Parts Department personnel.

• Respond to customer's inquiries, questions, or complaints regarding products or services.

• Maintain supplies inventory by recording quantities used and determining supplies needed. Ensure that inventory levels are kept at minimum to obtain maximum fill rates and inventory turns.

• Establish and maintain good relationships with vendors.

• Monitor ongoing Service and Parts Departments performance and review with Branch Manager performance against the Annual Operating Plan. Develop adjustments as necessary to achieve plan goals.

• Perform other functions or duties as directed by management.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing or Business preferred with a minimum of three to five years related experience in service and/or parts sales and management.

Job Profile:

This position is responsible for the day to day handling of rental calls and coordinating equipment rentals according to specific guidelines and procedures.

Primary Duties include:

• Processing orders for equipment rentals.

• Creating, reviewing, quoting and maintaining all rental invoices and agreements with accuracy and timeliness.

• Working with the Rental Manager to achieve the goals and objectives of the department

• Maximizing fleet utilization through effective scheduling and maintenance cost control.

Other Essential Duties:

1. Answer telephone and in-person requests for equipment rental.

2. Initiate rental contracts; complete all associated paperwork appropriately and timely.

3. Schedule equipment delivery, training and pick up of rental equipment.

4. Ensure equipment is properly serviced and prepared for rentals.

5. Monitor repairs and ensure all paperwork is complete, accurate and timely.

6. Monitor and track rental equipment inventory.

Qualifications

A viable candidate will be a self-starter and needs to be well-organized and detail oriented. This position will be working in a very high-paced environment and the candidate needs to have the ability to multi-task and work well in a team environment.


1. Must have 2 years rentals experience with heavy construction equipment or comparable job experience.

2. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

3. Must be computer literate and possess basic to intermediate spreadsheet and word processing skills; must be proficient internet user

Position Details & Responsibilities

The Lift Truck Territory Manager (Combined) reports to two Sales Managers and works with the Parts and Service Manager(s) in the assigned facility. The incumbent is the primary contact between the customer and the local store for both machine sales and parts and service sales. The incumbent must initiate and build parts and service sales and generate machine sales and rentals in an assigned territory. Annual sales goals vary from 1.5M to 2M in assigned territories.

Nature & Scope of Assignment: The incumbent's primary responsibility is to solve the customer's material handling problems. Material Handling needs may be in the form of the selling the right equipment to do a job or providing the best parts and service support available. The incumbent is required to know the features and benefits of the Caterpillar & allied product lines in order to recommend the correct model and specifications to meet the customer's needs.

The incumbent works as a representative of the parts and service departments and is responsible for generating sales for these departments. The sales are generated through repair bids, promotional specials, OEM replacement parts and parts for competitive forklifts. A Territory Manager works on application surveys, total maintenance/repair contracts, operator training and building customer relationships.

The Territory Manager is responsible for maintaining an up-to-date call and mail report and calls on customers within the assigned territory with a frequency according to the sales and needs of the individual account, and is required to use telemarketing and make cold calls to increase the size of the assigned territory. The incumbent will participate as required with strategic planning and analyze the assigned territory for sales forecasts and competitive surveys. The incumbent utilizes an expense account for items such as fuel and oil costs, entertaining customers, etc. A car allowance is provided to cover the expense of operating a vehicle.

Internal contacts include several department mangers. Department managers coordinate various services rendered as a result of sales calls. The incumbent works within the guidelines set by the department managers.

Major Functions

• Make sales calls on customers; discuss the company's parts and service programs and capabilities that will benefit the customer.

• Sell features and benefits of Caterpillar and allied product lines. Provide sales quotes to prospective customers.

• Inspect customer equipment and develop repair quotations.

• Answer customer objections and complaints and forward pertinent information to management.

• Assist in resolving accounting problems through carious departments in order to maintain customer confidence.

• Provide operator training at customer facilities.

• Document major sales through monthly sales report.

• Develop sales skills through company sales meetings and technical publications.

• Develop sales strategies tailored to specific customers and assist in the development of company-wide programs.

Qualifications

Incumbent is required to drive approximately 2500 miles per month visiting customers within the assigned territory. Conditions at customer locations will vary from indoor/outdoor and clean/hazardous. Occasional exposure to hot/cold temperatures, noise, dust, fumes, and chemical. Some light lifting will be required. An office is provided either on ground floor of a facility or a second floor, accessible by stairs. Normal eyesight is required to perform paperwork functions, and to read numbers stamped on components.

Compensation

$42,000 - $100,000+

Position Details & Responsibilities

The purpose of this position is to coordinate customers' request to rent lift trucks with written agreements, delivery, service department "make-ready," and invoicing of rentals and rental sales conversions. The ultimate challenge is to match customers' needs with the correct available equipment. This job involves combining the efforts of the various departments to the customer' requirements.

Major Functions

• Answer potential rental calls and/or personal contacts with the customers or salesmen, subsequently writing rental agreements, bill of ladings, UCC forms, insurance information, and get credit approval ro complete the rental process.

• Maintain equipment and availability list to record locations, condition and hours of trucks in the fleet. Operate the computer and comprehend the CDIS program to record rental agreements and the return of equipment, invoice customers, change specifications and/or selling prices.

• Schedule the hauling of lift trucks to and from the customer and hire outside hauling when necessary for the rental department, service department and new & used sales.

• Calculate interest for rental sale conversions, approve vendor invoices for payment, and compile various reports.

• Schedule rental trucks through the service department for preparation for delivery to customers and submit repair and maintenance estimates to management for approval.

• Working close with the various branches to oversee the transfer and exchange of rental trucks that are available in the total Darr Fleet.

Qualifications

The incumbent must prioritize customer requests for rentals and combine with fleet availability. This is a fast paced job and quick and accurate decisions must be made for customer's satisfaction. It requires concentration when calculating and invoicing to make sure customers are billed correctly. The incumbent must be able to deal with dissatisfied customers and identify their needs. Negotiating rental rates or bids and supporting company policies are other critical requirements.

Decision Making
The incumbent dispatches hauling in the most efficient manner to accomplish destination requirements. If there are minor repairs that need to be made before the truck can be rented, approval has to be obtained. Deciding on what truck in the fleet best meets the needs of the customer is essential.

Working Conditions
Normal hearing, vision and good speaking abilities are required for customers and personnel communications. Most of the time is spent sitting, with moderate walking to check rental inventories.

Working Environment
The incumbent works in a normal office environment. Hazards are limited to occasional trips to the service department where safety glasses are required.

Additional Information
It is imperative that you devote whatever time is necessary to accommodate the customer's needs and therefore the job may demand more than 8am to 5pm hours. Flexibility is important in this function.
