Herk & Associates is recruiting a Human Resources Manager for a construction equipment dealership in Harrisburg, PA.

Summary/Objective:

The Human Resources Manager directs, designs, develops, and administers HR from hire-to-retire including policies and procedures, employee relations, compensation, workers’ compensation, unemployment compensation, FMLA, reporting and compliance, benefits, and payroll through a comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Functions include but are not limited to:

  • Manage HR functions for four PA locations
  • Steward positive, engaging relationships with employees at all levels and locations that centers around treating all employees with dignity and respect
  • Review/Develop/Updates all policies, programs, and practices to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Ensure that HR strategies enhance the company’s goals and proactively accommodate growth 
  • Advise the executive team on HR issues and legislative changes, the expected impact on business operations, and provide solutions for mitigating risk
  • Process bi-weekly payroll and download payroll reports
  • Process new hires, employee changes, and terminations 
  • Manage recruiting functions: schedule/conduct interviews, prepare enrollment/onboarding materials and conduct new employee onboarding
  • Maintain employee files to ensure legal compliance
  • Collect and maintain employee company asset management forms
  • Complete government reporting as necessary

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and HRIS
  • Excellent time management and high-level organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to act with integrity and confidentiality
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to display empathy, even during difficult circumstances

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (examples: labor and employee relations, business administration, industrial/organization psychology, organizational leadership – all with an HR focus)
  • Five-to-seven years related HR experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record

Preferred Education and Experience 

  • Previous experience with TeamsuiteHR
  • Previous experience in the heavy construction equipment industry
