Position Details & Responsibilities

Position Summary

Parts Sales position will generate sales by offering options to customers for lawn, garden, equipment, machinery, parts, product, repair and warranty service needs.

Essential Responsibilities

1  Generate customer sales through relaying effective product, equipment, machinery and service knowledge and demonstration, based on individual customer needs and requests.

2  Receive and fill parts orders for customers.

3   Determine replacement parts required, according to inspections of old parts, customer requests, or customers` descriptions of malfunctions.

4   Provide prompt, accurate assistance to customers via face-to-face, by phone, email, social media and other sources deemed appropriate for customer interaction.

5    Handle payments and maintain accurate, up-to-date transaction records, with effective accounting reconciliation.

6    Maintain current knowledge of all product, equipment, machinery and services available in order to maintain an advantage on the competition. 

7    Place new merchandise on display.  Organize and maintain stock items and processes well, according to prearranged systems, to ensure appropriate inventory thresholds and activity deadlines are met.

8    Examine returned parts for defects, and exchange defective parts or process refund or store credit.

9    Effectively introduce and transition customer to other departments as applicable, maximizing utilization of other available products and services.

10  Handle customer complaints and/or concerns with professionalism and tact.

Qualifications

The essential responsibilities require the following Physical/Mental/Sensory Abilities:

1  Constantly moves about to coordinate work.  Move about inside and outside buildings.  Also maintains a stationary position at certain times during the workday. Ascend/descend stairs as needed.

2  Typically bends, stoops, crouches and reaches on a regular basis.

3  Reach over head, behind and across body.

4  Operate computer, telephones and other office equipment, including grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive motion.

5  Lift up to 30 lbs. (unassisted).

6  Observe and identify surroundings.  Judge distances and spatial relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are.  Ability to distinguish colors.

7  Detect by touch and smell.

8  Distinguish sounds.  Comprehend and exchange detailed information, including conveying it to others accurately, loudly, and/or quickly.

9  Operate, move, install, remove, and/or transport equipment, machinery and parts, including grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive motion.

10  Concentrate, recognize, remember, reason, analyze and make decisions.

The essential responsibilities include working under the following Working Conditions:

1  May work indoors and outdoors and be subject to high levels of noise, heights, dust, fumes, dirt, grime and grease normally associated with this type of work.

2  Subject to exposure to fluctuations in weather, temperature (including extreme heat or cold), air quality, humidity, and wet conditions.

3  Subject to frequent interruptions and, on occasion, hostile or emotionally upset individuals.

4  Expected to report to work on time and work the full established schedule.  May work, when necessary, beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and in other positions. 

5  May travel in local area during work day (including use of personal vehicle); may travel up to 25% of time out of town, including overnight.

6  Involves minimal risk to physical and/or mental health and safety 25% to 50% of the time (e.g., exposure to heavy parts or equipment, etc.)

The essential responsibilities require the following Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

1  Extensive knowledge of available outdoor power and landscaping equipment, machinery, parts, products, repair and warranty services.

2  Strong track record of producing consistent sales and providing excellent customer service. 

3  Solutions driven; ability to effectively execute under pressure within a fast-paced environment.

4  Proficient oral and written communications skills (ability to read and write, follow written and verbal instructions, and communicate effectively in English). 

5  Excellent product demonstration and description skills, utilizing a professional, courteous manner.

6  Demonstrate effective organizational and time management skills (ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines), with sharp attention to detail. 

7  Possess strong analytical, critical thinking, accounting and problem solving skills.

8  Good judgment.

9  Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. 

Level of Education

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.

Professional Licenses/Certifications

Maintain valid Driver’s License (issued from state in which they live) as well as safe, acceptable driving record.

Level of Experience

At least 5 years of related work experience within the retail, wholesale, and manufacturing industry (preferred), and preferably at least 3 years of outdoor power equipment sales experience. 

Work Contacts

Primary contacts are with management, co-workers, and customers.

Supervision

Expected to perform independently and exercise good judgment.  Does not supervise other employees
