We are a rapid response, full service distributor of emergency standby and prime power located in one of the largest demand markets for power generation in the country.  We represent multiple lines of commercial/industrial and automatic home standby generators in the mid-Atlantic region:  Delaware, Maryland, Washington DC, Northern Virginia, West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania.

We have an immediate opening for a CONTROLLER at our Maryland facility.  This position reports directly to the CEO/President.

This position will provide supervision and technical guidance to the accounting staff (AP, AR and Payroll). Will be responsible for calculating individual as well as consolidated billing of each of our departments, time and materials for projects while coordinating with departments in acquiring billing information.  Will supervise and/or perform reconciliations of sub-systems to General Ledger, reconcile various miscellaneous receivable and liabilities to G/L.  Additional duties will include:

  • Tax returns
  • Maintenance of employee records
  • Management of company benefit programs
  • Compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Maintain multi-state sales tax records, account receivable, accounts payable, purchase order, inventory and sales order documentation
  • Preparation and filing of various governmental and statistical reports
  • Responsible for period end and year-end closing, preparation for audit processes when necessary or other special circumstances (renegotiation of loans, leases, etc.)
  • Manage compliance with regulations for accounting of fixed assets, monitoring construction contracts, service agreements, special projects and any assistance to Executive Team
  • Budget and financial statement analysis
  • Monthly financial reporting
  • Implementation of financial policies, reports and procedures in support of various profit centers
  • Manage company insurance renewals and claims processing
  • Treasury management
  • Light Human Resource duties
  • Collection of past due A/R accounts

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • BS/BA in Business Administration, Accounting or equivalent
  • Minimum of 7 – 10 years of Controller experience
  • Documented experience in formulating financial reports to upper management
  • A/R, A/P, inventory, P/O, sales order and general ledger experience and knowledge of cost account principles
  • Experience with FIELD SERVIO a plus
  • Experience in the construction/contracting industry is preferred
  • Strong fiscal and programmatic understanding of various types of government and commercial construction-type contracts
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills, attention to detail and customer service
