Position Details & Responsibilities

RB Scott Company, a locally owned aggregate equipment and parts dealership, is seeking a Product Support Specialist to join our advanced Customer Service Team.

Position Summary:

Performs inside sales, purchasing, quoting, and product support for designated product lines.  Coordinates and places orders with appropriate suppliers/vendors for assigned areas of sales responsibility and ensures orders are timely and accurately processed.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with outside sales team and customers via phone/email/fax to gather pertinent information, process quotations, and place orders for assigned areas of sales responsibility, according to established procedures. Checks catalogs or works directly with supplier/vendors on pricing and availability, prepares quotes and places orders, performs computer maintenance to accurately record and track quotes and transactions.  Negotiates with vendors/suppliers where appropriate for quantity discounts, terms etc.
  • Regularly expedites orders for customer and outside sales team. Confers with them to solve order problems with suppliers/vendors as needed, usually by telephone or email.  Confers with President and Manager of Operations on difficult orders, customer, and/or sales situations.
  • Works with the Accounting Department to be sure all pricing is correct on all purchase and sales orders.
  • Backs up other Product Support Specialists as needed and/or assigned.
  • Keeps product manuals and other documentation updated in a timely manner.
  • Prepares written correspondence as needed, documents customer files with activities according to established procedures. Maintains accurate, orderly, and timely filing systems to efficiently retrieve information.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Prefer at least a two year associate’s degree in a related area and at least five years of sales and/or sales support experience.
  • Must be able to: gain the trust and respect of customers and sales people; project a positive “get to yes” attitude
  • Efficiently and accurately enter data and utilize a computer for a variety of sales related activities
  • Accurately and timely organize, direct, control, and perform sales and inventory activities: use required office equipment proficiently
  • Deal effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people and situations, both pleasant and unpleasant;
  • Maintain the integrity of highly confidential business information
  • Communicate effectively verbally (in person and over the phone) and in writing (compose correspondence and reports)
  • Perform basic math (+,-,*,/,%, fractions and decimals); meet stringent deadlines; deal effectively with time pressures, stress, and rapidly changing priorities.
