Service Writer / Advisor Job Duties:

Diamond Equipment, Inc, a Case Construction Equipment dealer located in La Vergne, TN, is looking to add a Service Writer.  We are looking for an individual with experience managing customer work flow from the initial phone call, to opening the work order, to assigning to the technician, working up the repair estimate and getting authorization to repair, to completing the paperwork and calling the customer to pick up the machine.  This person will also need to be capable of covering for the Service Manager when he has to be out of the shop for short periods or time off.  Below are some of the responsibilities this person will fulfill.

  • Ascertains equipment problems and services by listening to customer`s description of symptoms; clarifying description of problems; conducting inspections;  checking unit maintenance records; examining service schedules.
  • Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers; explaining provisions and exclusions.
  • Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor; calculating customer`s payment, including deductibles.
  • Prepares repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required; obtaining approval signatures; entering RO into service database system.
  • Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of machine; obtaining customer`s approval of estimates; obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers; answering questions and concerns; arranging towing and or transportation.
  • Maintains equipment records by recording problems and corrective actions planned.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; completes manufacturer online training.
  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

- Past experience as a Service Advisor in the Equipment or Automotive fields.
